About the Project
For Savvy Girls (FSG) is a non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering girls and young women through education, health awareness, and advocacy. Recognizing gaps in reproductive health knowledge, FSG developed a series of digital and print resources to break down complex health topics in a relatable and accessible format. However, the challenge was ensuring wide reach, engagement, and impact among young girls, particularly in underserved communities.
Key Goals:
– Simplify complex health topics into easy-to-understand materials
– Develop digital & print educational resources on menstrual & reproductive health
– Create an interactive online presence to engage young women
– Encourage community-driven conversations to destigmatize period health
The Challenge
Despite growing awareness, misinformation and stigma around menstrual health and cervical cancer persist, making it difficult for young women especially female adolescents to access trusted information.
Key Issues:
- Limited access to menstrual & cervical cancer education
- High prevalence of misinformation & myths
- Cultural stigma preventing open discussions
- Low HPV vaccination awareness
To bridge this gap, a multi-channel communications approach was needed, blending engaging storytelling, expert-backed content, and digital strategy.
The Approach
I devised a comprehensive communications strategy focusing on three key areas:
Content Development: Creating Trustworthy Health Resources
- Designed educational tip sheets on menstrual health & cervical cancer prevention
- Translated medical information into simple, relatable messaging
- Used visually engaging infographics to improve comprehension
